I am starting a software project that I call Livebadge Generator. Livebadge Generator is a software for generating web page summaries. The output can be configured as XML output which follows a defined format.

I have been thinking for quite some time about developing a software that will automatically generate/update some sort of summary for a web page or web site. The output format which should follow a certain standard is to be automatically re-generated when the web page or web site has changed.

Most web sites publish information in HTML format. The information that is published (e.g. price of a certain product) depends on the web designer who created the format for the page. There is currently no standard format for publishing the information (product info/price) that can make it easier to retrieve such information.

The benefits of having such a standard is can easily allow the creation of different dynamic services like web directories, up-to-date stock information, price lists …
